Diddy is making wine

Not to sure what his first label will be but we’re definitely looking forward to what is in the works. Looks like right now he’s accepting contact regarding the wine & spirits brand. (So if you’re a wine maker I would head on over like

I had the great pleasure of meeting this awesome lady a few months ago. I knew of “Blacks Girls Wine” but hadn’t looked up long enough to realize that it was founded in my own front yard, my city, Richmond, VA. Shayla is phenomenal and shares her awesome journey of stepping out there, getting a few scrapes and bruises, taking the lessons and planning for a great return.

Meet Shayla Courtney Varnado and Blacks Girls Wine at the Behind the Business -East Conference on February 10, 2018 at the Dominion Arts Center in Richmond, VA. Get your tickets here.

The Hit List: A simple guide for National Chocolate Day & Wine

On National Chocolate day it's only right that we pay tribute and toast not only to Chocolate girls but to the decadence that is Cocoa! When pairing chocolate with wine you want to make sure that the chocolate is not sweeter than your wine so that the wine won't taste bitter. Today is also a good excuse to buy the GOOD chocolate (which pairs better with wine than a cheap chocolate candy any day).

Here's a list of wines that you can't go wrong pairing with your favorite chocolate treat.

White Chocolate pairs with: Moscato, Chardonnay, Sherry

Milk Chocolate pairs with: Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling

Dark Chocolate pairs with: Cabernet Sauvignon, Port, Zinfandel

Bittersweet Chocolate pairs with: Malbec, Shiraz, Bordeaux

Follow this simple guide to get the most out National Chocolate Day! Do you have any favorite chocolate and wine pairings? Share them in the comments below so that we can indulge in some of your favorites too!

The Sip Files: Grocery Store Wine Rules

The wine experts will have you convinced that grocery store wine is the absolute worse thing you can buy. While there's nothing comparable to a vineyard wine selected by the winemaker himself there are grocery store wines out there that are totally yummy and perfect for a long day after work. Here's how to find the perfect wine at your local grocery store.

1) Choose a store that has a large variety in the wine department

You're less likely to get stuck with a dud if you have more options to research and carefully select from.

2) Check your local wines first

They are more likely to have less chemicals and be more pure in taste. Not to mention you'll be supporting your local winemaker which is always a plus!

3) Try the familiar first

Before you start grabbing bottles make sure when you're trying a new brand that you try your favorites from that brand first. This will help you get a feel for how they make what you love and make you more confident in what they have to offer.

These are just a few tips to get you started. All wines were not created equal and neither were out pallets so try it all... Or just wait for our review!
