Wine Slushies with Meaghan

One of our newest winefriends slid into our DMs with an amazing Wine slushie we couldn’t resist sharing! It’s the perfect summer recipe to keep you cool and wine you down. Thanks Meaghan!

Wine Slushie goodness

1cup of Wine >>depending on the day I’ll say 2 cups or keep pouring until you’re happy ;)

1 1/2 cups Frozen fruit (I prefer strawberries & blackberries and peaches)

2 cups of ice to blend

If you’re like me and trying to get rid of a wine you’re not to fond of this is the perfect recipe! Just in cases that wine wasn’t too sweet you may also add simple syrup (sugar) to your preference.

Happy Sipping!

Happy Wednesday wine besties!

I miss you all so much tonight but I am still under the weather so I am unable to go LIVE! But that will not stop our party! I obviously am drinking nothing but Theraflu but that doesn't mean there aren't a few things I'm super excited about. Check out #WhatWereLoving Wednesday and make sure to talk back in the comments!

Diddy is making wine

Not to sure what his first label will be but we’re definitely looking forward to what is in the works. Looks like right now he’s accepting contact regarding the wine & spirits brand. (So if you’re a wine maker I would head on over like

now. Click here)

The Congressional Black Caucus “won’t here for none” last night...and we weren’t either!

Last night members of the congressional black Caucus showed OWT at the #SOTU rocking Kente cloth in response to Trumps recent comments about Africa. Too much? We think not

Summer Wine Tour Recap

Oh what a glorious summer it was! 2017 was filled with wine and black girl magic. We laughed, joked, sipped, and entertained in our first summer wine tour! We hit 3 cities this summer and had a ball in each one. In every city our goal was to provide an intimate, memorable, classic experience-- and the ladies loved it in every city even with each event being different. Check out our summer travels below!

Instagram Takeover Recap feat. Shanika Hillocks

Last weekend we had the pleasure of partnering with Shanika Hillocks, PR professional in the food and beverage industry, named by Essence magazine has one of the "10 black women in the culinary industry". She shared all of her summer wine must haves for Summer 17! We've included a recap of her takeover right here on the blog for you to enjoy. Shanika we thoroughly enjoyed you!

Hello, everyone! Shanika here. The first grape we'll dive into is Chenin Blanc. Hailing from the Loire Valley, this varietal is now quite prominent in South Africa. So much so, that there are more than 50% of the world's vineyards are planted there.

So why Chenin? It's a sweet spot for both the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc lover, and the price point is reasonable, $12-$20 bucks.

Bright acidity and body found in Chenin make it super food friendly. It's also one of my favorites to enjoy with BBQ, as it cuts through the smoke and spicy flavors. #DrinkChenin #SHDrinks

Shanika here! Everything's coming up 🌹s today as we dive into our next wine: Rosé.

One thing that's been beneficial to my wine experience is finding local bars and restaurants, with great lists, where I can taste unique labels. In Harlem, my go-to is @vinateria.

Their 2016 Terra Vecchia Ile de Beauté Rosé hails from Corsica, France. This wine touts a clean, mineral-forward palate that's the perfect cool down on a hot, summer day. Pair this selection with oysters and fresh salads. #SHDrinks

Morning all! It's Shanika, closing my last day of the takeover with orange wines. After making a splash last year, orange wines--skin contact Pinot Grigio--are labels I like to keep in rotation. The color is unexpected, are great for a summer spread and come in variety of styles.

Looking for a label to start? Try the 2009 Dario Princic, Ribolla Gialla (L). Dario Princic is an old-school producer of orange wine hailing from a region, Friuli, that's made this style their own. Dried apricot, preserved orange, saffron and white button mushrooms can be found here, and I'm thinking steak.

I'm signing off for now, but had a great time chatting with you all. Follow me for wine happenings and stay in touch over at @shanikahillocks. Cheers and have a wonderful summer! #SHDrinks

What an amazing takeover! Shanika we can't wait to try your suggestions!

Happy Sipping!
